Infertility
- When a couple cannot have children after one year of unprotected intercourse
- 6 months if the female partner age is above 35
- It can be due to male or female partner
- 50 % of the infertility is due to male factor
- Causes in the male are
- Varicocele
- Genetic
- Obstruction to sperm pathway
- Infection
- Damage to testis
- Ejaculation problems
- Low testosterone

- Common cause of infertility in male

- Effects the quality of the semen

Treatment of varicocele
- Scrotal support
- Embolization
- Surgery
Vasectomy
- Is a male contraception
- Considered as permanent method
- Done by blocking the sperm conducting pathway
- Contraception should be continued till advised after the surgery
- Can be done under local anesthesia
- Usually, a day care procedure
- Vasectomy failure is rare but can occur
- Few patients have testicular pain after the procedure
- Do not increase risk of prostate cancer
